Reading has always been one of my favorite go - to activities, and that's why every time the opportunity to do a book review comes by way I never hesitate.

I had the privilege of doing a review of the book titled Christ-centered apologetics written by the prolific writer and renowned author Joel furches, He actually sent me a copy of his book and am really thankful for that.


The book Christ-centered apologetics revolves around the defense of the Christian faith.

It begins by chronicling why Christianity is facing one of the biggest onslaught of all times from reactionary atheism (atheists), it also outlines the incidents that have led to the rise in modern atheism and how this has in turn led to the boom in apologetics (defense of the Christian faith).


More than ever before Christianity is being faced with fierce criticisms from atheists and scientists. A challenge that seems to be getting worse by the day . Unfortunately, most Christians do not possess the requisite knowledge to answer some of the Burning questions being thrown at them by these radical atheists.
Joel furches in this book seeks to help arm and equip the Christian with relevant facts that can help him/her in the defense of his/her faith as well as strategies the Christian needs to apply when tackling these issues.

This book also bridges the gap that seems to be widening between Christianity, history and science. The writer used evidence from documents, history and prophecies to provide answers to some of the Burning questions Christians have been posed with.


Overall a great read
Great writing skills
Amazing interlinking of relevant information and a must read for every Christian, because knowledge is power.

In the weeks after my Mom passed, our Executive Director at work, was having to say goodbye to her father. I remember walking into her office to let her know I was there for her and to give her some comfort and support. I had all these things I wanted to tell her, but the only thing I could get out between the sobs was, "Be kind to yourself." Four simple yet powerful words. These words were spoken to me often while my Mom was dying and they made all the difference in the world. I'm not one to give myself grace. I'm extremely hard on myself and I don't know when to stop or slow down.  It made me feel validated and if I'm being completely honest, I know those words saved me. I'm not quite sure where I would be if I wouldn't have taken the time to grieve and deal with my emotions as they came. Being kind to yourself sounds so simple, but it's far from easy when you have an extraordinary amount of pain in your heart. The impact grief has on your whole body-emotionally, spiritually, physically and mentally-is substantial. It wasn't always easy making myself a priority, while caring for Kona, and being a wife, but I did the best I could to give my body what it needed.


I went for walks.
Read books.
Took long baths or showers.
Went for drives.
Talked with family and friends.
Enjoyed time in the sun.
Painted my nails.
Went to group counseling.
Did yoga.
Treated myself to coffee or lunches out.
Took time to be by myself.
Wrote in a journal.
Visited my Mom's grave.
Prayed and prayed some more.


For anyone who is losing a loved one or who recently has, I urge you to please be kind to yourself.  Show yourself love, acceptance and grace. Please know you are amazing, what you are going through is trying and not meant to be fixed in a day, week or month. It will take time and please take all the time you need, for your heart is broken and your world is shattered.

There's always that time in everyone's life when it feels like the world has ground to a halt, and the earth has stopped spinning on its axis.
You know !!! that time when it feels like Nothing "wants" to happen. So, you're literally dragging yourself through life, bored, confused and clueless.

I was once at that place. I was at home for four years, sick and drained of life, looking at the door but unable to go through it.
Obviously, I had loads of free time at my disposal, so what did I do with it?
I read an entire library of books.. Literally!!

Maybe you're a fresh graduate looking for a job, or you just lost your job,a retiree or a stay at home mom with kids who have started school, whatever it is, as long as you have some free time at your disposal, You can actually put it to good use. Make your free time a fruitful time :) what do you say ?

1.TAKE A TRIP: If you have the means, take a trip, visit new places, Know your world, meet new people, make new connections, make new acquaintances. You sure would learn a thing or two in the end.

2.FURTHER YOUR EDUCATION: you can actually take classes, music classes, online courses, French or skill acquisition classes.
learning never ends.
Take the opportunity and improve on your profile, boost your resume. it will come in handy when the time comes.

3.READ: reading is one of the most productive things you can do with your free time. read a book or two each week or however you can, Some of the world's most successful people attribute their success to consistent reading. It Will improve your communication skills, make you more informed, broaden your horizon as well as improve your vocabulary.

4.BECOME AN EXPERT: you can spend your free time acquiring a skill of your choice. You can also spend it perfecting the skills you already have, try to become an expert at your hobbies/ talent. Like they say, when preparation meets opportunity success is imminent.

5. LEARN A LANGUAGE :I am using my free time to perfect my French and Arabic. You could do the same. You'd be glad you did.

How apt. Your morning is a very essential part of your day and creating the right habits in the morning will start you off on the right foot.
Here are a few great habits That can help you start your day on the right note.

WAKE UP WITH GRATITUDE : No matter how bad the economy is, always wake up with a grateful heart. Be thankful for the gift of life. It's always a privilege to see a new day.

PRAY /MEDITATE: when you wake up in the morning never forget to take a few minutes to meditate and give thanks to God who keeps you alive.


WAKE UP EARLY : early birds have been known to do much better in life than night owls. Some of the most successful people in the world are early birds. Research has shown that people who wake up early are more proactive. Also early birds have more time on their hands and are happier.

EAT BREAKFAST : your breakfast is the most important meal of the day, don't skip it. Your brain needs fuel to function and that's exactly what eating provides, it also helps your overall performance for the day. And if you think you loose weight by skipping breakfast, think again, you will only end up very hungry and end up overeating.

LISTEN TO INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC OR READ AN INSPIRATIONAL BOOK: starting your day with an inspirational song or an inspiring book is a great habit. It will help condition your mind positively and give you a great outlook for the day.

TAKE A GLASS OF LEMON WATER : squeezing lemon into a glass of warm water with a few drops of honey every morning is a habit you ought to develop, because it will help regulate your bowels in the morning. it also aids digestion.

PLAN YOUR DAY : they say if you fail to plan, you plan to fail, so make sure you have a clear cut definition of what you intend to achieve in a given day, and as much as it lies possibly within you, implement it.

SNACK ON WALNUTS : instead of snacking on pastries, or chips try to make a habit of eating walnuts. Walnuts are known as the king of nuts and they are incredibly healthy. They help flatten your stomach and leave you with a thinner waist line.

EXERCISE : but of course! Always take a few minutes in the morning to burn off the stored fat. A short bout of exercise just before breakfast is a great idea.

Ever heard about "turmeric" ?
I bet you have. And if you haven't, where on earth have you been?
This natural spice has gotten quite the rave in recent times and rightly so.

For starters, Tumeric is a root which when dried and ground is used as spice for food. It is also known for its numerous health benefits.
It aids digestion and Relives pain.
It has also been used in treating a variety of conditions such as
jaundice,
menstrual problems,
blood in the urine,
hemorrhaging,
toothaches,
bruises,
chest pain.
The list is endless. Way more than 5 reasons actually.
We never run out of tumeric at home, my mom makes certain of that ( lol.)

So how can you use tumeric powder
to cook and what kind of food can you use it in?

It's really simple
For one, you can drink tumeric as tea, it tastes nice. You can also add it to your tea if you don't want to drink it directly.

Add it to your stew or food toppings.

You can add it your rice dishes, whatever type, be it jollof, fried, coconut or any other.

You can add it to your soup

It's so much like curry powder, so it also helps in food coloration, to give that lovely yellowish color.
It can literally be used for any kind of food..
Just remember not to over use it, excess intake of tumeric does have some side effects.

Like they say everything in moderation, including moderation.

16.Money is scarce. You will work REALLY HARD to get it.

17.Reading is one of the most rewarding things you can do with your time.

18 Time is the most precious commodity in the world. Not money.

19. Some people are toxic, stay away from them.

20.Talk less and do more.

21.Don't spend too much time making plans, get busy.

22. Not everyone will like you. People will hate you for no reason. Learn to deal with it.

23. practice makes perfect, hard work pays.

24. Life is short make the most of it.

25. Love God, love people. Be the best you can be.
